Technical Information and Frequently Asked Questions about our Cornhole Games:

Technical Information and Frequently Asked Questions about our Cornhole Games:
Since we haven't blogged on bigtimegameboards.com, here is some more information

1.) All boards, except for the tailgate size, are regulation size: 24”w x 48”l, 12” high in the back. 6” hole centered 9” from the back edge of the boards.
2.) Our standard board playing surfaces are made from ½” okiume plywood, exterior glue, 8 ply, high grade. This means that this material is harder, lighter, stronger, smoother, and more resistant to weather than the materials you can buy at a local chain store.
3.) Our standard board sides and legs are made from prime 2x4 pine lumber. This makes for a frame sturdy enough to drive a truck on.
4.) Yes, the legs fold up when not in use for easy storage. Our legs are attached to the frames with 7/16” carriage bolts and wing nuts. The legs easily rotate in flush with the sides so that the boards are easy to transport and store. The wing nuts can be tightened to ‘lock out’ the legs during play, or ‘lock in’ during storage. A cross brace attaches the legs together, providing more stability during extended play, and preventing the legs from becoming wobbly or loose.
5.) Our ‘Tailgate Size’ boards are 36” long and 24” wide. They will fit in the trunks of most cars. The car pictured is a Dodge Stratus Sedan, which is a mid sized 4 door.
6.) Our signature series premium boards are 24” x 48”, 12” high, 6” hole centered 9” from the back edge just like our standard boards. The difference lies in the materials used. The signature series boards playing surfaces are made from ¾” birch plywood. This is cabinet grade material, meaning it is functionally strong, smooth, and has nice cosmetic wood grain. The sides and legs are made from prime 1”x4” material, which allows the signature boards to be lighter than standard boards but not sacrifice any strength. Signature series boards come standard with latches and handles for easy, contained, all in one storage and transport. Signature Series boards also come with the bagtracker and bagpack standard, so you can keep score on your boards and have something to put the bags securely in when you are finished playing.
7.) Our bags are regulation 6”x6”, filled with real corn, and made from sturdy duck canvas. They are extremely durable, and professionally sewn. Take a look at the seam.
8.) Yes, the bags will swell up if they are exposed to moisture. Yes animals will eat the corn if they have an opportunity
9.) We use a combination of vinyl graphics and paint for our custom work. NO, the graphics will not peel off with normal use. Yes, we do cover them with a protective polyurethane clear coat.
10.) No, we do not have a retail store. Yes, there are locations that we can arrange pick up in the Northeast Ohio Area.
11.) How Soon will my cornhole games ship? - We stock mostly unpainted and primed sets because of the large quantity of custom games that we do. However we do stock most popular sets and generally have shipments delivered in 4-9 days from receipt of order, depending on location.
12.) How do you ship? We ship with custom sized cardboard boxes and bubble wrap. We’ve had very good luck using fedex home delivery as our carrier. No signature is required unless asked for by the buyer.
13.) All our products are made in the USA. Many large volume manufacturers are importing both their boards, and their bags. We don’t give away jobs at BTGB, nor do we sacrifice quality.
14.) If some organization is pushing plastic filled bags, chances are they are getting them imported. Corn cannot be imported from China!! Corn Hole is played with CORN! Don’t cheapen the game!

Cornhole: The fantastic game with the funny name

That’s right, Cornhole. The game originated in Cincinnati roughly 10-15 years ago, and was named after the object of the game: Throw more corn filled bags through a hole in an angled board than your opponent. Depending on where you’re from, it is also called Bags, Baggo, or Corn Toss, and is not to be confused with the cheap alternatives found at sporting goods stores.
The basics of the game are as follows: 2 boards, 2’ x 4’ in length, with a 6” hole in the middle that centered 9” from the back edge. The front of the board is 4” from the ground, while the back is 12”. Each team has 4 corn filled bags, made from duck cloth, in different colors. The boards are placed 30’ apart from hole to hole. Play is similar to horseshoes, as teammates stand on opposite ends, and alternate throws with their opponent. Bags left on the board are worth 1 point, while bags that go through the hole are worth 3 points. Scoring between teams cancels, so that if team one gets 3 bags on, and another gets 2 bags on, team one gets 1 point. The game continues until one team reaches 21 points.
Part of the distinct appeal of the game is the ease of which it is played. People of all ages can enjoy cornhole. If you’ve got enough strength to toss a bag, you’re in! This is particularly popular with the tailgating and college crowd looking to spark some friendly competition and at the same time enjoying some adult beverages. It is a great event for family reunions, company picnics, and graduation parties as well.
If you’re looking to build your own boards and bags, it takes a novice the right amount of tools and time. If you’re less than a skilled carpenter, count on a good weekend to build the boards, and make sure that you buy quality materials. If you’ve never sewn, it might be your best bet to purchase bags from elsewhere, to ensure that you’ve got the proper durable material, as well as the correct fill and stitching.
For those looking to purchase, there are few sites in the NE ohio area, but the one I’ve found to give the best service and quality for the price is www.bigtimegameboards.com. They can be reached at (216) 798 8779, and directly service areas from Cleveland to Akron. They also ship sets nationwide, and provide service to custom design board sets to their customers’ preference. Their motto, “Tailgate like a champion” is accurate in the description of the service and products that they provide.
Keep an ear out for the distinctive “Thud”, and if you can, join in on the game that is sure to become a back yard favorite for a long time!

Top Quality Cornhole Boards

Here at Big Time Game Boards, we've had another excellent season. We are continuing to build competitively priced, excellent quality corn hole game boards for not only northeast ohio (cleveland and surrounding areas) but also the rest of the United STates with our shipping capabilities.
As always, my personal Ohio State Cornhole Sets get the most attention off the website. A lot of people also like my Cleveland Browns Cornhole sets, or my Notre Dame Fighting Irish Cornhole options as well. Because these are licensed trademarked goods, i can not sell them to customers as configured. If you buy plain boards from me, you are free to customize them as you please.
I do have some custom designs, as evidenced on the web site.

For the new year, we are introducing a signature series board, which is a higher end set that has more finished sides and a thicker, smoother top with routered edges. pics are going to be up as soon as possible at www.bigtimegameboards.com

we will also have the ability to order online, via a secure server, thanks to our friends at Godaddy.
